Swimmers of the Week: GHWO v. Belterra, Hays

Swimmers of the Week

On a week where our focus is consistency, these two swimmers of the week are true models of day in and day out focus and effort.  They both exhibit great swimming talent but also an attitude of hard work, teachability, and enthusiasm for swimming.  Congrats to you both!!

Female Swimmer of the Week: JoJo Courtright - age 8

JoJo is an absolute pleasure to watch swim.  Her tiny, lithe body moves effortlessly through the water with the technique precision of someone twice her age.  She has swimming intuition that makes her seem like she might be part fish.  She is powerful, strong and intense in her competition.  Beside her swimming ability, she is a delight to coach, and she comes to practice every day with an incredible work ethic and desire to learn.  She sets the tone for her lane mates as she swims each set with focus, and a great attitude. In our meets, she dominates her age group with many first place wins. She is an inspiration to all of us! We are so proud of you, JoJo!!

Male Swimmer of the Week: Drew Samford - age 12

Drew stood out this week most noticeably for the lime green cast that adorned his arm.  The day after his unfortunate fracture, Drew showed up at practice, ready to swim, the fiberglass on his cast barely dry.  He was ready to get back in the pool and keep up his training.  Not missing a beat, he jumped back into his swimming with his usual enthusiasm and effort.  This week in the meet he found out that his cast is actually a secret weapon, as he broke ALL his previous best times!!  Observers are starting to wonder if perhaps it is not actually a cast but a motor?!  Drew gets his cast off days before Champs, so look for more exciting results from Drew!  You are an awesome example of making the best of any situation!  Congrats!
